World Cup final: Italy 3-0 France

Italy scored its first goal of the tournament and then won 2-1 against France in its World Cup quarterfinal match at Stade de France in Paris.

The Italians were looking to extend their unbeaten run to six games, but it was the French who looked to make the most of a mistake that led to a goal for Simone Zaza.

The Bianconeri had an opening when Mario Mandzukic put his header past French goalkeeper Karim El Ahmadi and it was a good chance to score.

Then France made things difficult when they gave up a penalty in the 22nd minute.

However, the home side held on and took the lead when Mandzuki was sent off.

Mario Mandzuka was sent to the stands for stamping on a France defender.

France had chances in the second half but failed to register a shot.

The Italian side was punished for their errors when the hosts scored a late goal to break the deadlock.

Italian keeper Andrea Bertolacci was called into action after he fouled Mario Mandza in the area.

After the goal Italy went on to win 2-0.

The match was broadcast on ESPN and BT Sport in the United Kingdom.
